COMMUNITY EVENTOn October 13th, 2018, the studio hosted an event on site in the Sherman Park neighborhood. Neighbors and all passersby were welcomed to share their dreams for the neighborhood. From those conversations, we generated ideas for a mostly empty lot.

STREET FURNITUREWe designed an 18” x 18” x18” module; a cube which stacks in a variety of ways to create different social and interactive conditions. The built prototype is designed with children in mind - a small mountain to climb up and over. A small planter would allow strawberries, a low maintenance, high production plant, to be planted and eaten from. It’s this aspect of taste and
exploration which fuels a curiosity in food and nutrition. The furniture also includes a cabinet to exchange messages. Within my project, these could be used as a place to exchange recipes and to post neighborhood notices and invitations; a central message board. Taste. Learn. Play. Socialize. These qualities are a start to shared spaces and to encourage neighborly interactions. |
