Redesign Proposal for Butterfly Park
The Redesign of the park proposes the creation of different recreational spaces for all ages. We started with our first intervention in the neighborhood, the memorial seat, these will be located in the two small squares located north of the park. They will be a way to welcome users, as well as inviting them to meet at this point. ENVIRONMENT All the existing trees, as well as the topography of the place, will be preserved, with only small alterations in order to build a wall to climb completely green and sustainable. The park will also have two community gardens, this because after the visits to the neighborhood and talking to the neighbors, we concluded that the idea of beautifying the neighborhood using flowers was something that everyone shared. To begin with the construction of the gardens, we plan to summon the neighbors who want to volunteer to work together, so they will have a sense of ownership of this project. PEOPLE The neighborhood has a wide variety of ages, a very important group considered were the young adults, after some interviews and community events, we decided to build a small skate pool, as well as an area for basketball, even a dog park, Walking around the neighborhood we can see animals moored in the front of the houses, this because most of these houses do not have a fence, so the animals can not run freely. Learning the value of a life, as well as coexistence with animals and living beings has many benefits for human beings, reason why the construction of this area. HEALTH Another problem in the area is the shortage of stores with healthy food options, so the food space will be mainly built to support the community, they can produce their own food in any of the gardens in the park, and It is visualized as a way to invite the neighbors to gather to produce their own food, as well as cook and share with others. In order to support the idea of healthier eating, users will be provided with an outdoor exercise area, with simple machines and free space to run, jump or do yoga. In the future we plan to have summer workshops where young people will be educated on how to have a healthier lifestyle. MEMORY The memorial walk, will be a small green corridor that crosses the park from east to west and will have a mural dedicated to the struggle of civil rights, as well as the idea of sharing, along the way, the seats create an ideal space to tell stories and brings people in the community together in a space that they can share. |
