Mitre Joint Concealing end grain in a piece of lumber from the weather This joint comes in handy for making items from furniture to picture frames that will be openly displayed. The downside is that the miter is not a very strong joint unless it is reinforced. With that information the joint used in the intervention was reinforced with triple coated steel screws to handle the chemicals in the treated wood.
The catalyst for the project was a simple wooden box that created a seat. The box held the power to create food in the community and the street furniture in the community allowed the opportunity to make a permeable barrier on the street edge slowing the movement and making the street a more walk able edge. The community adds words and shows that there are positive ideas in the community.
