Southeast Asians in Milwaukee
How displaced communities adapt to the Milwaukee Neighborhoods
Understanding relationships between a community and its parts signifies how individuals construct a sense of place and how places produce the larger world. The Southeast Asian history harvest research began in Fall 2018. Research assistants interviewed Hmong, Laotian, and Karen refugees that live in Milwaukee neighborhoods. The goal of this particular research is to explore and portray the evolution of Southeast Asian’s definition of home as they preserve their values and beliefs by incorporating them into their new home.
Drawing from qualitative interviewing, extensive discussions and collecting other research ventures, this project illustrates the lives of the Southeast Asians and how living in diaspora affected their way of living. |
